The Don River Railway’s long-held dream of being able to operate mainline steam train passenger services from Devonport to Penguin will become a reality, regardless of who wins Saturday’s Federal Election.
Braddon Liberal Candidate Mal Hingston and Deputy Opposition Leader Susan Ley have promised $15 million towards the Don River Railway’s $18 million expansion, which includes the mainline services, while Braddon Labor candidate Anne Urquhart has promised $13 million if the Albanese Federal Government is re-elected.
Former Don River Railway Society president and passionate mainline service campaigner Lynn Laycock says the project’s been a long time coming.
