Cardi B Files for Divorce From Offset After 3 Years
After getting married in 2017, Cardi B has filed for divorce from Offset after 3 years and is seeking full custody of their two-year-old daughter Kulture.
The pair already had broken up in December 2018 and got back together in 2019 before the divorce was filed in September 2020.
The 27-year-old ‘WAP' rapper filed documents under their real names, Belcalis Almanzar and Kiari Cephus, in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s reported the documents say the marriage is 'irretrievably broken' and 'there are no prospects for a reconciliation.’
Cardi and Offset married secretly in 2017 after a very public engagement with Offset proposing in front of a crowd of 19,000 people at the Philly Powerhouse concert.
The couple had their first child together in July 2018. Reports say Cardi B is after primary physical and legal custody of their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, and wants Offset to pay child support and for legal expenses.
The pair had already broken up with Cardi B going to Instagram in December 2018 saying:
"We got a lot of love for each other but things just haven't been working out between us for a long time.”
In another interview with Vogue, she says:
“When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,”
After a public apology from Offset, the pair got back together in 2019. He wrote on Twitter:
"All of my wrongs have been made public, i figure It’s only right that my apologies are made public too.”
The court hearing is set for Nov 4, 2020
