24 hour Stairmaster challenge

A team of six from the Port Sorell Fire Brigade is stepping up (literally) for a 24-hour StairMaster Challenge — taking turns nonstop for an entire day to raise funds for the 2025 Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb. That’s right: one machine, no breaks, and a whole lot of stairs.

It all kicks off at 9AM on Saturday, August 23 at Hybrid Fitness, 23 Burgess Way, Shearwater — and we’ll be climbing through the day, through the night, and into the next morning!

To keep the energy high and the vibes even higher:
• BBQs will be sizzling throughout the day
• The fire brigade and local businesses will have community stalls set up
• And just to spice things up, some of our firefighters will leave mid-challenge to take on the Glow Run that night!
• PLUS — the entire event will be live-streamed, so you can tune in anytime to catch the action, the laughs, and probably a few exhausted faces!

We’d love to see the community drop in at any hour, day or night — whether you’re coming for a bite, to show support, or just to see how sweaty we look at 3AM.

We’re doing this to raise vital funds for mental health, PTSD and suicide prevention, causes that are incredibly important to us as firefighters and as locals.

A huge and heartfelt thank you to Hybrid Fitness for not only hosting the event, but throwing their full support behind us. Opening their doors (and letting us take over the place for 24 hours!) means the world, and it’s local businesses like theirs that help turn big ideas into powerful community moments. We’re so grateful.
