Tasmania’s largest aged care provider Southern Cross maintains its accreditation is current for all of its homes around the state, after explosive claims in Parliament.
The company operates facilities in Launceston, Hobart, Low Head, Somerset and also provides outreach services in Devonport.
Federal Member for Clark Andrew Wilkie has accused Southern Cross Care of operating at dangerously low staffing levels and has used parliamentary privilege to air claims from Advocacy Tasmania.
The claims include leaving people at a high fall risk to shower themselves and poor quality food and missing meals for others.
Advocacy Tasmania CEO Leanne Groombridge says she’s happy to repeat the claims outside Parliament.
“They copped a caning through the Royal Commission…they were singled out, it should have been a total embarrassment, I don’t know why the board wouldn’t have taken some serious action,” she told the ABC.
“To be frank, things have gone downhill further, we believe, since Robyn Boyd has been appointed as CEO.”
