A woman is recovering from a serious leg injury in the Royal Hobart Hospital following a rafting mishap in the Southwest National Park.
Police search and rescue responded to a beacon that had been activated on the Crossing River, the Westpac chopper winching a team to the scene on Wednesday.
The other members of the woman’s party are continuing their trip, police praising their preparedness.
“They carried all the appropriate equipment with them and had advised family members of their intentions but unfortunately they had to activate the spot beacon when the injury occurred,” said Acting Sergeant Callum Herbert.
“Given the terrain it was a difficult operation in a stunning location for the pilot, police and ambulance crew.”
