SES crews are on standby again as another low pressure system brings soaking rainfall to the state’s east and southeast.
Four-day totals to the end of Thursday could be up to 100 millimetres in the south east and east, with the potential for even more in elevated northeast locations.
The sodden north also in line for between 20-40 mm.
The Weather Bureau’s Brooke Oakley says catchments including the Coal, Huon, Jordan and Derwent are on flood watch.
“We’re expecting persistent rain over a number of days, so that rain will just continue to accumulate, and the rivers are also very saturated so they’ll respond quickly to that rainfall,” she said.
In the wake of last week’s flooding, minor flood alerts remained in place for the Meander and North Esk Rivers as of Tuesday morning, with moderate flood warnings still out for the South Esk and Macquarie Rivers.
