Federal Braddon MP Gavin Pearce says Tuesday night’s Federal Budget has fallen well short of expectations.
Mr Pearce says the budget was spruiked as a cost of living relief budget, but will do little to help people living in the Braddon Electorate.
He says the tax cuts amount to little, with taxpayers earning $45,000 a year paying $13 a week less.
Mr Pearce says the 10% increase will do nothing with rents rising by an average of 12% and doesn’t support the vast majority of renters, who don’t qualify for rent assistance anyway.
In the lead-up to the 2022 Federal Election, Mr Pearce says Labor promised to cut power bills for households by $275, but instead, the cost power has gone up 18 per cent since then.
Mr Pearce says the $300 rebate announced on Tuesday night will be in instalments of $75 a quarter, hardly puts a dent in the overall cost.
