Five Coastal not-for-profit organisations will receive a share in $300,000 worth of funding from the State Government to help with food relief programmes over the next 12 months.
Community Services and Development Minister Nic Street says the Community Food Relief Grants Programme will assist organisations to provide much-needed food relief to their communities to ensure sufficient delivery of food relief to those in need.
Grants of up to $10,000 have been made to eligible groups involved in providing eithner low-cost or free ready to eat meals and-or hampers to Tasmanians in need.
Mr Street says the 35 grants will help ensure more Tasmanians have access to sufficient, safe, nutritious, quality food.
Organisations on the North-West Coast receiving grants of between $8500 amd $10,000 will include the Parish of Ulverstone, Gatwewy Life Solutions in Devonport, the Parish of Sheffield, the Parklands High School Association, and the Burnie Community House.
