More arrests made after Glenorchy taxi incidents

Tasmania Police have made two arrests, in relation to a taxi incident in Glenorchy.

At around 6:45pm that night, a taxi driver reported being threatened by three passengers before the group caused damage to his taxi.

The driver had collected the two females and a male from the Kmart Plaza in New Town.

An 18-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from New Town, have been arrested in relation to the incident which occurred on Tuesday night.

They’re likely to be charged this week.

Investigations are continuing into the third person believed to be involved.

Police have determined that this incident was not related to another matter involving a taxi driver that occurred later on the same night; where a30-year-old woman was quickly apprehended and charged.

Those involved in the two separate incidents are not known to each other.

Police have said the behaviour will not be tolerated.
