Murder charges before court

Two accused murderers faced Hobart Magistrates court on Friday morning in separate matters. 

John Paul McDonald was arrested in mid-February after police, responding to a disturbance at a Liverpool st home, found a man who had suffered serious head injuries.

The alleged victim was hospitalised but died the day after.

During a videolink appearance Magistrate Reg Marron adjourned McDonald’s matter without plea to May 5.

Alleged Granton murderer Brock Callum Davey also appeared in person, pleading not guilty to that charge and others including unlawful firearms trafficking and aggravated evade.

The 20 year old is one of three men charged over the death of escapee Nicholas Scott in January.

Mr Scott had fled custody at the Royal Hobart hospital; in the hours following police attending a report of a gun shot on Black Snake Road and found the 26-year-old’s body.

Davey is due back in court on May 25.
