New facility for homeless men in Devonport

A new supported accommodation facility designed for men has opened in Devonport.

Marram Place on North Fenton Street, will provide safe and supported accommodation for men facing homelessness on the North-West Coast.

Up to eight men, including an option for a father with children, will be able to access to the emergency accommodation and support service, with the facility including two living rooms, a kitchen, courtyard, a gym, and interview rooms.

The main building also includes accommodation for staff to provide a 24/7 presence at the site.

The service will be provided by respected community provider CatholicCare, helping residents to transition to more stable living arrangements.

Housing Minister Nic Street says the State Government has provided $2.5 million for the design, planning and construction of Marram Place as part of it’s $38 million a year commitment to reduce homelessness.
