“Old clunkers” needed for road crash rescue training

The Tasmania Fire Service has put the call out for unwanted cars to help train career and volunteer firefighters in road accident rescue.

A social media post is asking anyone who has what has been described as “an old clunker lying around that you need to get rid of”, to contact the Fire Service North-West Headquarters.

Firefighters use real cars for road crash rescue training exercises to ensure scenarios are as realistic as possible.

The post says the Fire Service will arrange for collection of the cars.

Reactions have already seen offers being made, including suggestions for removal of several possibly long-abandoned cars on the Coast to be taken away.
