21 Tasmanians are heading to Canada – as a part of a greater Australian contingent – to assist with wildfire response.
The highly trained personnel come from the Tasmania Fire Service, the State Emergency Service, Parks & Wildlife, and Sustainable Timber Tasmania.
While there, they’ll perform a range of duties, from firefighting to public communication.

It comes after the National Council for Fire and Emergency Services in Australia and New Zealand received a request from Canada for assistance in Northern Alberta, as the region battles more than 200 wildfires, burning over 1.8 million hectares.
