Police are investigating the cause of a suspicious fire in the early hours of Friday morning which substantially damaged a Devonport unit.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at 2.17 am and on arrival found the vacant Nicholls Street unit fully involved in fire.
However, the blaze was brought under control relatively quickly with some assistance provided by nearby residents.

A subsequent fire investigation determined the cause of the fire to be suspicious.
