Shark attacked

An investigaton is underway into a Great White shark being allegedly caught and killed near Smithton.

Police and the Department of Primary Industries, Park, Water, and Environment are calling for any information, videos or images from the Perkins Bay area over the weekend.

It comes after a photos of a White Pointer gutted and bleeding on a Circular Head beach emerged on social media.

The species is listed as "protected" by DPIPWE, requiring it be returned to the water dead or alive.

Local fisherman have slammed the alleged incident.
