Easing restrictions for Greater Brisbane
The Tasmanian Government has moved to allow people from Greater Brisbane to travel here.
Travellers from the region are now able to come to Tasmania but must still quarantine when they arrive into the state, effective immediately.
Premier Peter Gutwein says one of the key reasons for that is the matter of the UK strain of the virus which has been detected in six people linked to hotel quarantine.
“Subject to the situation in Brisbane we could move to classify Brisbane as low risk from the end of this week, but we will keep that under observation and will consider that through the course of this week,” he said.
“One of the key reasons for that and being relatively cautious is the matter of the UK strain of the virus, which has been detected and six people linked to hotel quarantine so we want to be confident that all contact tracing.”
Premier Gutwein has also made mask wearing at all Tasmanian airports mandatory from this Friday.
