Heat sparks Total Fire Ban
The mercury is tipped to hit the mid to high 30s across much of the state on Monday, causing the TFS to issue a Total Fire Ban.
Hobart is among 13 municipalities subject to the ban from 2am Monday, with residents encouraged to avoid travelling to high-risk areas unless it is critical.
The municipalities include Brighton, Derwent Valley, Hobart, Sorell, Central Highlands, Glamorgan Spring Bay, Huon Valley, Southern Midlands, Clarence, Glenorchy, Kingborough and Tasman.
Campfires will not be allowed to be lit or stay alight in the open air and anyone who has had a campfire in recent days should make sure the fire has been extinguished to avoid flare-ups.
The Tasmania Fire Service has pre-deployed a suite of extra resources, including a number of air water-bombers.
