Male in 50s dies from COVID
Tasmania's pandemic death toll has risen to 86 on the death of a man aged in his 50s from the state's south.
"I extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones," Premier and Health Minister Jeremy Rockliff said.
It coincides with the latest surge in coronavirus cases, with another 1157 reported on Wednesday.
12 Tasmanians are in hospital being treated specifically for the virus, including three in the ICU, while the number of active infections has tipped over 5000 again.
