Former state cricketer Andrew Dykes is taking on the job of Community Football Manager at AFL Tasmania.

He'd previously served worked with Communities, Sport and Recreation and Cricket Tasmania.

The 46-year-old said he is looking forward to involving all corners of the state's football community.

“It’s about connecting all the stakeholders within Tasmania. To have a common thread between the footballs passionate people around the state whether it be Smithton, on the East Coast or down South or through the Midlands. It’s about what actually binds our state together,” Mr Dykes said.

AFL Tasmania CEO Trisha Squires said the recruitment of Dykes was a big coup for football in the state.

“Andrew is a fantastic fit for this important leadership role and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge after working in a variety of areas during his time at Cricket Tasmania and Communities, Sport and Recreation,” Ms Squires said.

“The growth and development of football within Tasmania relies on strong foundations at the community level and I know Andrew is looking forward to working with the broader Tasmanian football community to further strengthen our great game.”
