An Ulverstone man faces a lengthy prison term when he's sentenced next month for the grisly murder of his housemate.

Following a trial stretching more than six weeks, a Burnie jury yesterday took less than four hours to find Darren Ward Gale guilty of murdering Noel Ingham in 2016.

The victim's decapitated body was found in a bush grave four months after he went missing.

53-year-old Gale claimed the death was accidental and he did what he did to avoid a murder charge.

Gale also killed the victim's dogs and destroyed his car.
