Salmon hatchery plans
More Atlantic salmon will start their lives in central Tasmania, subject to approval.
Tassal aims to establish a hatchery near Hamilton where it will raise juvenile fish using Meadowbank Lake water.
It already has a hatchery in the area at Russell Falls.
The company's looking for positive outcomes from its by-products, including used treated water recycled for irrigation and salmon waste converted into plant food.
It is now over to the Central Highlands Council and the Environment Protection Authority to weigh up the $46 million project, with October 18th the deadline for input from the public.
