Spending and saving row

Squabbles over money management has featured heavily in a new sitting of Tasmania's parliament today.

Falling revenues has the government scraping out savings from services such as health which is widely viewed as already running so lean its frequently described as 'in crisis.'

Labor leader Rebecca White asked the Premier to explain how he can justify spending millions on consultancies, while an 11 year old Devonport burns victim languishes on a surgery waiting list.

"Premier, why is media monitoring for the Department of Premier and Cabinet more important than surgery for Spencer Connelly and the almost 10,000 Tasmanians waiting for operations? "

Premier Hodgman rejected the premise of the question, suggesting the government is investing more than ever in health and less on consultancies than the previous Labor Green government.
