Yep that’s right, the AFL is coming to Amazon Prime. The team behind “Drive to Survive” the massively popular Formula 1 documentary series, is now gunning for the AFL. Following a trend of well made, behind the scenes Amazon documentaries that follows the lives of current sporting icons through their series such as Drive to Survives and The Test.
The series so far is set to follow the 2025 AFL Premiership season, and is currently set for a 2026 release. A lot of the details behind the show are not yet known, even the title has not yet been revealed (or perhaps even decided) but the rumours are that the following teams have allowed cameras into their clubs and behind the scenes on game days: Western Bulldogs, Gold Coast Suns, Brisbane Lions, and the Greater Western Giants.
Rumours also suggest that the camera crew are focusing on star players at the respective clubs such as Toby Greene and the AFL’s very own sporting Hozier – Marcus Bontempelli. As the productions has seemingly only just begun it suggests that the show will focus on the last few weeks of the season and the finals.
If any of these teams make it to the grand final and face off against the Collingwood Magpies, can you imagine how dramatic and “good vs evil” the final episode would be! I for one can’t wait to see what they make.
