Yellow theme for National Road Safety Week

A number of Tasmanian landmarks are being illuminated in yellow this week as part of National Road Safety Week to remember those who’ve lost their lives or been injured on our roads.

The Tasman Bridge and MyState Bank Arena in Hobart, Burnie Makers Centre, Launceston Town Hall, Leven River bridge at Ulverstone, the Paranaple Centre in Devonport, and the Cement Australia silos on the Devonport waterfront are among 19 Tasmanian landmarks lighting up this week.

35 people were killed and over 300 sustained serious injuries on TASMANIA’s roads last year.

So far this year eight lives have already been lost and more than 114 people have suffered serious injuries in crashes.

Tasmania Police say they will be play an active role in promoting road safety through targeted enforcement activities and community engagement initiatives during National Road Safety Week.
