The battle continues as the Maroons and Blues head west for Game Two of the 2025 Ampol State of Origin series, set to kick off on Wednesday, June 18, at Optus Stadium in Perth.

After a strong 18-6 win in Brisbane, Laurie Daley’s New South Wales Blues lead the series 1-0 and are now just one win away from claiming back-to-back Origin titles.

Maroons Make Major Changes

Queensland coach Billy Slater has made bold moves for Game Two, most notably dropping long-time halfback Daly Cherry-Evans after 26 Origin appearances.

  • Tom Dearden will take over in the No. 7 jersey, forming a new halves pairing with Cameron Munster, who has also been named team captain.
  • Kurt Mann makes his State of Origin debut off the bench, bringing versatility to the side.
  • Kurt Capewell and Trent Loiero have been promoted to starting back row roles.
  • Jeremiah Nanai and Pat Carrigan move to the bench to add impact later in the match.
  • Ezra Mam is named 18th man, with Jack Howarth and Corey Horsburgh rounding out the reserves.

The Blues have suffered a setback in their halves with Mitchell Moses ruled out due to a calf injury sustained during a training session in the Blue Mountains.
